The upper house of the Diet adopted a resolution expressing concern over military pressure by Russia on Ukraine at a plenary session on August 9. The ruling party, the Democratic Party of Japan, the Japan Restoration Association, and others voted in favor of the resolution. It pointed out that the situation near the Ukrainian border has been destabilized by foreign powers and stressed that "we are deeply concerned about this situation.
