Koalas "at high risk of extinction"; Australian government to spend ¥4.1 billion to protect them.

On November 11, the Australian government decided to raise the crisis level of wild koalas by one level to "high risk of extinction" in two states and the Australian Capital Territory, including the eastern states of Sydney, Brisbane, and Canberra. The reason is that their survival is threatened by drought, recent forest fires, disease, and urbanization. Environment Minister Lee announced the decision.

A third of koalas die due to drastic environmental changes. An endangered species?

A koala crawled out of a forest of flames burning with tremendous intensity and staggered as it wandered through the fire.
