A bipartisan U.S. delegation to Taiwan led by former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Robert Mullen, who served as the top uniformed U.S. military officer, met with President Tsai Ing-wen at the Presidential Office in Taipei on April 2, emphasizing that the United States "firmly keeps its promises" to Taiwan and reaffirming that the United States' policy of engagement in Taiwan will remain unchanged even in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
