Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced at a meeting of the Budget Committee of the House of Councillors on the morning of March 2 that he would "implement by the end of the week" economic sanctions against Belarus for its cooperation in Russia's invasion of Ukraine. He stated, "In view of the country's obvious involvement, we will impose sanctions on individuals and entities, including President Lukashenko, as well as export control measures."
