On April 3, the U.S. administration of President Joe Biden announced new sanctions, including an asset freeze, against close associates of Russian President Vladimir Putin and businessmen of an emerging oligarchic conglomerate (oligarchs). They include Alichel Usmanov, a well-known global billionaire, and Peskov, a spokesman for the Russian presidential administration. They will also be denied access to their personal assets, including luxury yachts and private jets, on the grounds that they have gained enormous wealth through their cozy relationship with the Putin regime.
