According to the South Korean military, North Korea fired a single projectile, believed to be a ballistic missile, into the Sea of Japan from the vicinity of Sunan, Pyongyang, at around 8:48 a.m. on March 5. Japanese Defense Minister Nobuo Kishi told reporters at the Defense Ministry on the same day that the missile was estimated to have fallen outside Japan's exclusive economic zone (EEZ).
