At 4:06 p.m. on March 24, the Japanese Coast Guard announced that a ballistic missile may have been launched from North Korea and "is believed to have fallen about 170 km west of Cape Ryutobi in Aomori Prefecture, Japan, at around 3:44 p.m." Japan's Minister of Defense Nobuo Kishi announced that the missile is estimated to have fallen in Japan's exclusive economic zone (EEZ) for the first time since September 2021. This would be the first time in September 2021 that a missile has fallen within Japan's exclusive economic zone (EEZ).
