Human Rights Risks, Investigation of Overseas Business Partners METI dispatches ILO experts

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has requested the International Labor Organization (ILO) to dispatch experts to examine the human rights risks of Japanese companies' overseas business partners and encourage improvements. There is a trend, particularly in the U.S. and Europe, to place greater emphasis on human rights due diligence (DD), which involves identifying risks of human rights violations at the company and its business partners, and taking preventive measures. Japanese companies are lagging behind, and there is concern that they may be excluded from the global supply chain.
